Parodies

Parodies are pretty cool. :) Many people make them, like Weird Al Yankovic (if that’s how you spell his name), but a lot of them are Youtube users. I’ve seen a few with my friends, and thought that they could provide you with examples to start your own.

When you’re writing a parody of a song, I always like it when the singer sings mostly words that aren’t part of the song. This video blended together original lyrics and the refrain of the song very well. (“I kissed a girl… and I LIKED it.” xD) But most of the lyrics are original: “Snow-white hair, vintage wheelchair,” “I like my ladies older by decades,” and “She kept glaring from behind the chips.” And, if you’ve ever seen the music video by Katy Perry, you’ll get how they also parody the visual.

This is a parody of the movie trailer for Twilight, if you didn’t already know that. I guess it kind of helps that I really dislike Twilight to begin with, but this was really awesome! It takes scenes that begin with actual lines from the movie (“How long have you been seventeen?”), and gives them parodied endings (“Just, ah… a really, really long time.”).

This user makes tons of really awesome movies, so check them out sometime. Anyway, he parodied a Carl’s Jr. commercial for their new Portobello Mushroom Burger. Commercials are pretty easy to parody, but I have seen people mess up because they didn’t include enough funniness in their videos. It works only if you put a good amount in.

Well, parodies are awesome! I think I’ll close with this:
